Praise the Lord! We have already completed two books of the bible. I feel so close to all those we have been reading about.. The tears, the triumphs, the sin, the forgiveness, and the promises.. Closer for sure to my God! Thank you brothers and sisters thank you God!
I do too, Heather! Actually, reading these chapters this morning was bittersweet - because I knew it was the end of both Jacob's and Joseph's lives, and it's like reading any wonderful book where we just don't want it to end. Praise God that this Book does not end and God is not finished yet!
Jacob's blessings that he gave to all his sons were so fascinating - a father who knew his sons' characters.
Still, my favorite verse is Genesis 50:20, where Joseph tells his brothers (who had sold him into slavery in his youth) "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."
It's like II Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord isn't slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn't want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act."
What a lesson to keep in mind when wrong lingers on. God is so patient and loving. We shall be also, not endorsing sin but continuing as God does to be patient and striving to lead others toward a holy, righteous, honest, pure Savior.
