Day 49 Leviticus 16-18

For every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;
he can deal gently with the ignorant and misguided, since he himself also is beset with weakness;
and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins, as for the people, so also for himself.
And no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was.
So also Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him, "YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU";
just as He says also in another passage, "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK."
In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.
Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, Heb 5:1-9

  1. chapter 16 "scapegoat"
    chapter 17 "for the life of all flesh is its blood"
    If I am following here.. It would seem that the great I AM took my sins like a scapegoat and gave His lives blood to give me forgiveness once and for all... WOW (not that wow says at all what this means.... On my face in awe for a year with my mouth shut would still not say it all)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    then chapter 18 I don't see how there is any confusion about the gay thing... It's very clear... Thankful for this bible study thankful for forgiveness undeserved!!

  2. Once again, I'm with you, Heather -
    Wow!
    Chapter 16 about the scapegoat is awe-imspiring! Such a plan for forgiveness. As I read this, I could imagine our Jesus willingly be the Scapegoat for all sinners, for all times, and it brings me once again to my knees (where I need to be). Thank you, God, for your Plan!
    Chapter 17 about the blood - about the blood - that the "life of the flesh is in the blood" and tht that phrase is repeated over and over again. Very important!
    Chapter 18 about all the prohibitions - oh, God, that we as people after Leviticus would not have strayed so far! May we come back into Your Plan and Your Presence in humble repentance! Your Word and Your Way is so clearly defined.
