Day 21 Genesis Chapters 27-29

"When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our way."

  1. What struck me in this reading was the trickery and deceit of Rebekah (and Jacob) to teach Jacob to deceive Isaac in order to obtain the blessing. Jacob at first said no, in a way - (27:11-12 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, "Look, Esau my brother is a hairy man and I am a smooth-skinned man. Perhaps my father will feel me and I shall seem to be a deceiver to him; and I shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing." Then Jacob was convinced by his mother, and tricked his father, lying to him that he was Esau.

He may have received the blessing but also reaped the consequences for his sin. As we all do. We may say, "It's worth the cost to get what I want" but what we don't realize at times of temptation is that God knows what we NEED. We still see through a glass dimly - God sees the entire picture - canvas - tapestry. Oh, so much to learn from God!

  2. Amen Susie! You know I love when Leah who was unloved but blessed by the Lord said "This time I will praise the Lord." Therefore she named him Judah. I have seen all the names of our kids in this first month of our reading and they all have this in common. The Lord blessed them, they loved the Lord, and Christ came from their blood line. I pray my kids will love the Lord and be blessed by Him and will live because of the blood of Christ forever!!!!

  3. Grandma and PaPa say AMEN to that, Heather! Susie, God sure does show us in this what happens when we operate in our own understanding, doesn't he?
"Lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."
