I found myself thinking as Heather has said before, "It was hard not to keep reading!" These chapters were wonderful with lots happening and lots of valuable clear lessons.
Pharaoh's dreams - Joseph's interpretation of the dreams - Joseph being put in a place of honor - Joseph's brothers coming - Seven years of abundance/seven years of famine - Joseph's father.
Simply; 1. The dreams of Pharaoh and the reality of seven years of abundance/seven years of famine. Should we now put aside anything we can? 2. Joseph's brothers. They always had to live and maneuver under a guilty conscience, didn't they? They knew what they had done to their brother, Joseph, every day of their lives after that one day. Sin is never self-contained, is it? It always ripples out. Lesson to learn.... 3. Joseph's merciful and decisive dealings with his brothers. Interesting. 4. Joseph's father knew the character of his sons - verse 42-36 - So many things to apply today from this wonderful reading!
OH MAN!!! I really didn't want to stop this time!! Susie, yeah the sin just in slaved all their days!!! I bet forgiveness is coming for those who want it in this story!!!! God is so so so so GOOD!!!!!!!!! I am loving this bible reading!!! one of the best things I have ever done in my life!!!! REALLY
I TOTALLY agree, Heather! This is one of the best Bible studies I've ever done - and I am so thankful to be involved in it! Even on the busiest days, it "makes my day." Or, should I say, God makes my day! Yes!
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha - it's always Marsha! (Shades of Brady Bunch days....) Marsha, what do you think? I always get something out of your comments, as you see the political scene so well.
Nathan & Rachel, Cynthia, Stephanie, Patricia - chime in anytime (you know that, don't you?). We are all encouraged through the camaraderie of each other.
