In a few days we will start our second month of Eating Bread Together.. Keep on brothers and sisters! Only 11 months to go and we will have feed on every Word of God!!!!
1 John 2:5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: (anyone for a little extra reading?)
OK here is my question that I think will be answered later in or reading.. but why is it that we are reading along and then the story of Judah? I am guessing this will make more since later... Joseph just keeps loving the Lord and the Lord keeps blessing him. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI also read 1John 2
*Keep commandments=knowing Him
*love=light
*hate= darkness
*abiding in Word=overcoming evil one
and so much more!!! Thank you Jesus (propitiation!)
It seems like so many of my posts begin with, "Wow!" And today is no exception! Wow! I guess one thing I see is the fruition of the verse in Ecclesiastes 1:9 "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."
ReplyDeleteSince the fall of man with Adam and Eve, sin has reigned big-time! Every single day! People born - people live - people die - people sin.
Judah's firstborn, Er. Judah's second-born, Onan. Judah's daughter-in-law, Tamar. Judah's sin with his daughter-in-law (thinking she was a prostitute), and on and on.
Wow! (I keep saying that.)
Then we have Joseph who is blessed by God refusing Potiphar's wife's advances and being put in prison.
Then Joseph interprets dreams and asks the butler to remember him (speak kindly to the King about Joseph)- which the butler does not.
Wow! What did I get out of this passage today!
1. Sin is "crouching at the door" and we believers must do our best to be discerning and keep our eyes on God all the time.
2. Circumstances may turn bad even if we do number 1, and most definitely is we do not follow God and follow our own desires and sin.
3. God is still - always - eternally in control! His plans are the final word in any matter.
4. I love this study and am learning every day more and more about God's love, mercy, patience....
Well, you girls said it all. Nothing left for me to say. ha ha
ReplyDeleteWhat I see, but have not yet incorporated into my life, is that if we would stop trying to help God, things would go a lot smoother.
How wonderful that God has recorded for us how He is so patient and so merciful with us. Thank you Lord.
He also shows us in these stories how man is man, even with an expanded knowledge of Him. Thank you for the imputed righteousness of Christ through His sacrifice.
God is awesome!
WOW is right!!
