Day 23 Genesis Chapters 32-34

And the seed in the good soil,
these are the ones who have heard the word
in an honest and good heart,
and hold it fast,
and bear fruit with perseverance.
Luke 8:15

  1. As always, lots of wonderful teachings in these three chapters!

One point that stood out to me is Jacob's response when he heard that Esau was coming with 400 men. Jacob was very afraid. In response, he (first, separated all his family into two groups) then prayed to God -
    1. he remembered God's promisses - that God told him to return to his country and that God would bless him
    2. he acknowledged his unworthiness before his Holy God
    3. he asked for deliverance from harm
    4. he admitted he was fearful

Good model for us, too! First, pray to God in honesty acknowledging who God is, remembering how He has promised us and given us good things, asking for deliverance from harm, admitting our human frailities. I like this passage a lot!

  2. Gen. 32:10 "I am unworthy of all the lovingkindness and of all the faithfulness which You have shown to Your servant..." I can relate with Jacob here!
*I think it is interesting that Jacob wrestled with Christ (?) wow!
    *Now he is Israel!
    * I know it was wrong what Levi and Simeon did.. but I would want to do the same!
Like we talked about yesterday Susie "ALL have sinned!"
I can't believe the reading just keeps getting better. I LOVE IT, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

  3. Me, too, Heather! Love reading the Bible like this and it's great to share comments, also. (Hint, hint to those who are not.... :))

Is it just me, or is reading the Bible like watching a rosebud unfold into the most magnificient flower! Rose of Sharon, Bright and Morning Star?

  5. Aaahh, Susie, you wax poetic. I must admit that I have been so tired when I read at night, that I have to sometimes go over it again. Have been reading lots of scripture on something I am working on.
It is so exciting to read God's word. To the point of wanting to do nothing but that. But alas, we must settle for the times we can devote to His word.
We truly must stay in the word so that we are not deceived in these last days. We must see how God deals with us and how Christ said He will snatch us up to be with Him. But that is for another discussion. Love to all. How about someone else chiming in here.
