Day 5 Job Chapters 6-9

Can't wait to eat some more!!

  1. Good morning, friends!

Job 6-9 is meaty, sorrowful, thought-provoking and has some good words for our lives, doesn't it? Reading this helps me re-examine what I think about and say and feel (attitude) during suffering (mine or others).

These chapters also are a wake-up call to be merciful and kind to others who are suffering (actually this whole book - Job - is that, isn't it?)

Job 6:14 "To him who is afflicted, kindness should be shown by his friend. Even though he forsakes the fear of the Almighty." Job (who didn't forsake the fear of God) calls Eliphaz to task for his indictment of Job, and says, "Be kind - I just need a friend, not a judge." This is a good reminder for us all, isn't it?

Also, again and again I see here how powerful and perfect God is. His reputation is not tainted one bit by the words of people on earth trying to "figure Him out." God is a (the) Rock and needs no defense. We are to draw near to God, learn His ways, and live in Him, accepting what He allows (in this case, suffering).

God is Good - He has His reasons which we cannot fathom - be uplifted during suffering through prayer and drawing near to God - take the counsel of friends to God and say, "What do YOU think about their words, God?" Then, be still and listen to God's (only wise) counsel.

    Good teaching, great study!

  2. Blessed by the Lord! We can see how God is showing us through all this endless conversation and suffering that we are in need of a "umpire" or mediator to be able to approach Him. That we need to be saved from our iniquity. Christ shines forth even in Job. Love it!

  3. God is good. This has been very good. and is still working.... It just keeps going back to God being in control. We think we have things so figured out... we just don't know what is going on behind the seen. We just have to know that He is in control. Job is amazing.
