What a blessing Day 1 was. Thanks be to the Lord! everyone keep posting your comments this is how we can help each other stick to it and fellowship about His Word! Keep eating!
(if you get behind that's OK you can post a note on the chapter you read and we can go back and read it just don't stop! we need to be in the Word!)
Genesis 4-7 is packed with so much history and teaching and lessons!
ReplyDeleteSeveral things struck me in these passages and I went to a commentary of Matthew Henry (also a link on this site) to read more. Here are highlights that struck me in Genesis 4-7
1. Cain's unrepentant heart (after killing his brother, Abel). "Cain complains not of his sin, but of his punishment. It shows great hardness of heart to be more concerned about our sufferings than our sins," Matthew Henry wrote.
2. Seth's life gave Adam and Eve a "new beginning" in their lives - as he was like Abel in faith.
3. Enoch "walked with God." This is more than belief in God - it is a day-by-day, moment-by moment relationship with the one, true God.
4. Noah - did what the Lord commanded, even though it seemed foolish (and more, to a watching world). He followed God's instructions. Period.
I am definitely going to need more time processing these chapters! They are rich with meaning!
Amen, Susie--I'm a little slow sometimes, so my comment is related more to the first three chapters; however, relevant to today's also.
ReplyDeleteWhile contemplating creation, it has become clearer that we are indeed "fearfully and wonderfully made." Moreover, that we owe every breath we take and everything in existence to God. How dare we concern ourselves with anything but showing and telling of the Lord's glory to all whom He puts before us. We have no right to ourselves--
Oh, Lord, take my narcissism from me and replace it with Your Spirit that I may be one as You and the Son are one. You promise to provide for all my needs, You bought me with the precious blood of Your only begotten Son, so that I may worship You in Spirit and in truth and for eternity! Oh what a gift!! Oh what wonder!!! Thank you Jesus
This is so much to "chew" on! I am still thinking of things about yesterdays reading...
ReplyDeleteOK Day 2
*Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." WOW!
*Gen 6:1-4 ?????
*Gen 7:5 "Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him."
how safe would I be if I did according to ALL that the Lord has commanded from the floods?? (consequence of sin that is) but Christ has saved us from Gods justified wrath as a gift by faith!!! WOW
*and one more thing GOD IS POWER!
I am so blessed to be doing this with you all!!! God is good and His Word is alive!
